News Otaku – With a series of anime announcements from Anime Expo 2024, this is good news for webtoon fans. The popular manhwa ‘Omniscient Readers Viewpoint’ has finally been announced to have an anime version. Although rumors about the anime have been circulating for a while, an official announcement was announced at Crunchyroll’s Industry Panel at Anime Expo 2024 on July 6.
Based on the original Korean web novel by author Sing Shong, released from January 6, 2018 to February 2, 2020 on Munpia, Korea’s largest web novel platform. Later, it was adapted into a webtoon by Naver Webtoon, illustrated by Sleepy-C (Redice Studio).
The anime titled ‘Zenchi-teki na Dokusha no Shiten Kara’ will be produced by Aniplex. Crunchyroll will stream the anime in the future. Although studio information and release date have yet to be revealed, fans can enjoy images and teasers in the meantime.
First look at the pictures
The main image and small teaser of the upcoming project were released at the event, along with the official announcement. The stunning image features the two main characters of the series, Kim Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk, standing side by side. Looking at it shows their roles and how their lives will be linked later on.
Anime trailer
Both Crunchyroll and Aniplex released a short teaser of the anime ‘Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint’ on July 7, 2024, on their official YouTube channels. The 36-second teaser promises an intriguing plot by dropping some important pictures from the manhwa.
Released pictures include Kim Dokja, reading the novel ‘Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse,’ a few impressive pictures of the main character, Yoo Joonghyuk, and finally, the clash between them, which ends ends with back images of all the important characters that will play a decisive role in the series. Fans can look forward to a great anime series based on their favorite webtoon.
Plot of the Anime
The life of Kim Dokja, an ordinary office worker who is passionate about reading the web novel ‘Three Ways to Survive in a Corrupt World.’
After reading the last chapter, he received a strange message from the author, who thanked him for bringing the story to life. Furthermore, he emailed Dokja a thank you gift and information about the story’s monetization process. Soon after, the web novel was deleted and the novel’s story began to take place in reality with the appearance of a creature called ‘Dokkaebi.’
Now, Kim Dokja must use knowledge from the novel to survive various situations and try to change the ending with his trusted allies.
Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk, the main characters of the original web novel, must also overcome their differences and cooperate to save the world.
About Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint
Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint is a Korean metafictional apocalyptic fantasy web novel written by author pair Sing Shong. It was adapted into a webtoon of the same name in February 2020, one day after the end of the web novel.
It follows the story of Kim Dokja, a regular salary contractor who one day, gets trapped in the world of his favorite fantasy novel. The web novel is called Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World, written by an anonymous author with the nickname tls123. Dokja is the only reader who has read this novel to the end.
When the novel suddenly becomes reality, Dokja is the only one with special knowledge about this destructive new world. He knows how to end the story and thus has the best chance of survival.
