During an interview on Aniplex’s After Hours program hosted by Sally Amaki on May 10, 2024, Solo Leveling producer Sota Furuhashi discussed new details for the anime’s upcoming second season.
Furuhashi revealed that while the first season primarily focused on the main character’s personal growth, the new season will expand the story to include more extensive development of the supporting characters.
The first season, which aired from January 7 to March 31, 2024, was mainly centered on the protagonist’s evolution.
Solo Leveling Anime Season 2 expectations:

Furuhashi highlighted the importance of these side characters, noting that season 2 will delve deeper into their backstories and contributions. This approach intends to present a more layered and comprehensive view of the series’ world, enhancing the narrative depth.The production of Solo Leveling continues under the experienced hands of A-1 Pictures and has garnered a global audience. The series is available on Crunchyroll in regions including North America, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, while Medialink has secured distribution rights for Southeast Asia and Oceania.
Originating as a South Korean web novel by Chugong in July 2016 on Kakao’s digital platform, KakaoPage, Solo Leveling quickly rose to fame. This success led to a webtoon adaptation by Jang Sung-rak (Dubu), with its first season concluding in 2020 and the second in 2021.
Titled “Arise from the Shadow,” the second season of the Solo Leveling anime is set to broaden the narrative scope established in the first season. According to Furuhashi, fans can anticipate a season that not only continues Jinwoo’s story but also brings the supporting characters into the spotlight, promising a fuller and more immersive exploration of the Solo Leveling universe.
