Discover the Black Organization, the Puppet Masters Behind Shinichi Kudo's Transformation

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Detective Conan, which debuted in Weekly Shonen back in January 1994. The series follows the thrilling adventures of Shinichi Kudo, a high school detective from the East, who is transformed into a child due to the experimental drug APTX 4869.

The sinister Black Organization, responsible for Conan’s youthful appearance, is infamous for its heinous crimes including extortion, theft, and murder. But why did they target Shinichi with such a drastic measure? It all traces back to Shinichi’s exceptional detective skills, which posed a significant threat to their operations. Consequently, they dispatched two of their top agents, known as Gin and Vodka, to eliminate him. However, instead of killing him, the drug transformed Shinichi into a child, setting the stage for his quest for vengeance.

To this day, the origins of the Black Organization remain shrouded in mystery. Led by the elusive Renya Karasuma, depicted only in silhouettes, the organization’s members use code names based on alcoholic beverages to conceal their identities, each fulfilling specific roles from execution to espionage.

Beyond his transformation, Conan, still mentally Shinichi, actively pursues the Black Organization due to their involvement in numerous criminal activities. Equipped with gadgets like a turbo-engine skateboard, telescopic eyeglasses, a stun-gun watch, and a voice-changing tie, Conan tirelessly works to solve cases and expose the organization.
